Why Should Every College Student Work on Becoming a Better Writer?

Do you ever wonder why colleges are so big on students being able to express their feelings, research, etc. through writing ? Writing has been proven to help aid cognitive skills due to the fact it requires focus, planning and , forethought. Due to repetition and reinforcement these skills are made to be kept up to par.

I firmly believe that writing in college is an essential tool for the next step in professional and personal development. We see this showing it importance in multiple variations throughout undergraduate studies ( resume, cover letter, applications etc.)

“If students’ poor writing skills from high school are not corrected in college, students could be adversely affected post-education.”

What Now?

If you or someone happen to know could improve on college writing skills don’t worry or feel hopeless because I’ve found a couple things you should keep in mind while writing to improve every time!

  • Font Choice
  • Avoid Abbreviations & Text Speaking
  • Use Complete Sentences
  • Use The Right Word
  • Capitalizing Words Correctly
  • Using Punctuation Goes a Long Way
  • Practice Makes Makes Perfect
